Frequently Asked Questions

What level is required for these trips?

The requirements vary for each trip depending on what level the trip is for. I offer trips for all levels (even if you do not see a trip listed for your level at the moment, please be patient!). I am always trying to understand demand, so feel free to get in touch about whichever trip you feel is best for you and I'm happy to have a chat.

The majority of my trips require the ability to catch waves on your own, surf down the line, and the understand basic surf etiquette. Most trips also require you to have your own surfboard (with the exception of the learn to surf trips).

Which destination has more lefts/rights?

Mentawaiis (reef breaks) is predominantly lefts – we can get the odd right, but the best waves that work most often are lefts.

Maldives (reef breaks) has more rights, but there are some fun lefts too.

Lohis (reef break) has a private left hander on-site with a capped amount of surfers that can be there at one time, almost guaranteeing little to no crowd.

Nicaragua (both beginner trips and the barrel clinic) is rights and lefts over a sand bottom.

I do not think I am good enough. Should I still sign up?

ABSOLUTELY!! As mentioned above, I have trips for all levels but I spend A LOT of my time FaceTiming with you girls and asking questions, watching videos, etc. to really understand what level you're at and what destination I think would be best for you. I coach you at your potential – not your level. I also MAKE SURE that all the girls on a trip together are around the same level and working on the same things.

What’s the itinerary?

My trips do not have itineraries (except for the Surf + Photography trip in the Maldives – the photographers have a detailed itinerary noting everything they will learn with Connor). Surferelle's priority is you and your surfing, so every day our expert surf guides will make the best call for our group to get the best waves with the least amount of people. We film EVERY session for video analysis and make time to review footage as much as you’d like. When the wind picks up, sun goes down, etc., we have other activities on hand that we can choose from, but surfing is always first priority.

What is the difference between the Maldives options?

I know it can be confusing – let me break it down:

Maldives Outers is the outer atolls of the Maldives, meaning MUCH less people (we surfed alone 7 / 8 days last year in pumping conditions – watch the YouTube video here), tons of wildlife, and it picks up more swell than anywhere else in the Maldives during the time of year I schedule my trips.

Maldives Centrals has less people than Male, guaranteed wildlife (nurse sharks by the hundreds, manta rays, and potential whale sharks), fantastic dive spots, and higher quality waves.

The Maldives Centrals Surf + Photography trip is half surfers and half photographers, all getting coaching from experts in their fields. This trip is open to men and women. This is the trip for you if you’re looking for more intimate personal coaching, as a group of 10 can feel large for some people.

Maldives Male – if it was up to me, I would do all my trips in Centrals and Outers because of the reasons listed above. However, I like to offer trips in Male as it tends to be cost-friendlier (this is because we do not require any extra fuel to get to our destination and for the outers, the domestic flight is INCLUDED in the cost).

Male is still great, but often times comes with more people and less wildlife.

Which destination has less crowd?

I understand crowds can be intimidating and significantly hinder progress in surfing. If you are hoping for empty lineups almost everyday I'd suggest:

MALDIVES OUTERS – boat trip for intermediate and up.

MALDIVES LOHIS – land-based private wave for intermediate and up.

MALDIVES CENTRALS – boat trip for lower intermediate - advanced.

Which trip is more adventurous but also has surf coaching?

If you want more adventure, diving, wildlife, breathtakingly beautiful islands, etc. – Maldives is for you.

If you just want to surf till you can’t paddle anymore and your eyeballs fall out of your head – Mentawaiis is for you.

What is included on the trips?

These trips are all inclusive except for flights (for most destinations), travel insurance, and content packages (for specified trips).

I pride myself on all that is included in these trips. My fiancé and I have been guests on these kinds of trips and we know, down to the last detail, what really matters. I know there are no other trips out there like mine.

What is the average age of the group?

The AVERAGE age on my trips is 27.

HOWEVER, I am so lucky to reach so many amazing women, and you are never too young or too old to want to work on your surfing. I have had 18 year olds and 56 year olds on the same trip and they've been fantastic. It’s incredible what happens when you bring together a bunch of ladies that want the same things. Everyone comes from such different walks of life but are somehow so similar at the same time, and leave feeling like sisters, regardless of the age.

What are the payment options?

We can receive credit card payments, ACH wire transfers, and Wise payments. And yes – we offer payment plans.
