Barrel Boot Camp started as a funny reel series that I created when I decided I wanted to lock in on my barrel training in the summer of 2025 in Nicaragua. Tim fell in love with this spot right away — it took me a few years and a couple mental breakdowns on the beach, but now I love it too, and we block out time every year to be here and get barreled together. After catching the barrel of MY LIFE in 2025 and getting some buzz online around Barrel Boot Camp 🫡, it's now its own coaching trip!

Seven nights. Just two or three people. Daily 1:1 in-water coaching from both of us, daily video analysis, a barrel and beach break theory class, and the best wipeout reels of your life.

This one is open to men and women.

It always falls in July, and it's usually pretty last minute and go with the flow. If dudes want to join, you don't have to make a surf profile (lol this is just for the girls). Just DM me or Tim on Instagram!

Who This Trip Is For

What Stage 5 looks like on this trip

You're an experienced surfer with real ocean knowledge and a lot of self-sufficiency. You surf a wide range of waves and conditions, you make smart decisions in challenging environments, and you adapt quickly to unfamiliar breaks. What you're after now is performance, refinement, and pushing your own limits.

This week, that means barrels and nothing else: identifying barrel sections, understanding the technique, making the late take-offs, actually going for it, and trying to make it out. With two or three people on the trip, all of that is close to 1:1.

And you need to be willing to go over the falls. You're going to eat a lot of sh*t (and we're going to film every bit of it) — so be ready to embrace it!

The Coaching

Two coaches with two to three people max.

You get Tim and me in the water with you every day, and with a group this size, the coaching is pretty much 1:1 the entire week.

Every session gets filmed and we go through the videos daily. There's also a barrel and beach break theory class, because a lot of barrel riding is knowing what you're looking for. You can't get barreled on a wave that's not barreling — so this is probably the most important part.

And you'll leave with the best wipeout reels of your life. That part, I can definitely guarantee!

Where You'll Stay

Amaru Nicaragua — an air-conditioned single or double room with your own ensuite bathroom.

Three meals a day, made for you. A pre-breakfast bar with granola, fruit and homemade bread for the early sessions. Coffee and tea all day, the Amaru Wellness Bar, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

There's a daily yoga and surf recovery class, plus one wellness massage during the week — which, after seven days of going over the falls, you will probably need.

Getting There

You fly yourself to Managua (MGA), and the drive up to northern Nicaragua is about 3.5 to 4 hours. Bring snacks!

Land around 1pm, and you'll usually get to Amaru around 6 or 7pm with a transfer included in your package. Land around 9:30pm, and you'll be arriving much later (around 1 or 2am) and might have to pay separately for your taxi, though the drive is sometimes faster at night.

Hotel bookings will be made online directly with Amaru, while the coaching, car, and filming fees are paid separately in cash.
